Romance Book Recommendations – 2021 Edition

This post was supposed to have gone up on Valentine’s Day, just like the video I made, where I talk about some romance books and recommend them to you. But as always, I got sidetracked by a number of issues, and here I am, putting this up eons after it was supposed to have gone up.
It is, I think, fitting enough that I talk about some amazing love stories that have touched me, made me cry, and sent dinosaur-sized butterflies rampaging through my stomach. Not all of the love stories are the mainstay of the books mentioned. Some of them could be subplots, but the pull these stories had for me was undeniable.

January 2021 Wrap Up – Starting and Ending the Month with Disappointments!

Oh hello, hello! I’m quite a few days late in posting this wrap up for January, but better late than never, right? That’s what I tell myself and until there’s something else that I come across that will assuage my guilt for being absent here, that’s how it’s going to be. XD
I read 10 books in January – far fewer than what I wanted to. What’s more, I started and ended the month with disappointments. Not a big fan of constantly doing this but all the other books, I loved, so I guess I can’t really complain. 😀

Rant: The Continued Absence of Courtesy

I have the habit of sitting at the Starbucks closest to home for two reasons: amazing coffee, and decent Wi-Fi. I lose track of time when I work here and get so much done that I’m usually euphoric when I start back for home. So it was that I decided to go there on November 27, 2017 for what I hoped would be yet another period of fruitful work. But no. Tumult of the mind was coming my way!

A Scarcity of Condors (Venery #3) by Suanne Laqueur | Book Review

I discovered Suanne Laqueur in 2018, when I requested an ARC of A Charm of Finches, the second in the Venery series. And boy, oh, boy, how I fell in love with that book and the characters! Javier, Alex, and Val became so close to my heart, I don’t even know where to start! But I realized that it was the second in the series a tad bit too late, just as I realized that you could read it on its own too. Reading the first one only gave you extra insight into the minds of the characters. When I saw that the third in this series, A Scarcity of Condors, was available for request, I immediately snapped it up. And what a wise decision it was!

Relationships and Shared Life Experiences!

Have you ever felt left out as your friends share inside jokes? Someone you were once close to is now close to someone else. They interact with them the way you used to interact with them on a daily basis. It isn’t jealousy that twists you from inside – just a helplessness, as you can feel them slipping away. You have friends you are close to now, too. You have inside jokes, too. You keep secrets, too. So who are you to complain?

The Girl and the Goddess by Nikita Gill | Book Gush

There are certain books that will make you bawl because they are so similar to your life and your experiences that it hurts. These books will leave a gaping hole in your chest, days after you finish reading them. Being able to identify with what the author is saying makes you antsy and uncomfortable, but it will make you want to give the author a big hug for understanding you. Because it seems like no one in your life so far has ever understood the chaos, the unease, the dissatisfaction within your chest.
But Nikita Gill does. She’s got that kindred spirit thing going with me and she doesn’t even know I exist!
