What I’m Currently Reading & Watching | #Blogtober22 – Day 18

No deep thoughts today for Blogtober. Just a little update on what I’m reading and what I’m watching these days. Short and sweet.

What I’m Currently Reading:

As of today, I’m just one short story away from finishing Her Body & Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado. A fabulous collection that focuses on women and queerness in an eerie manner. These stories are essential to understanding a woman’s psyche, but they are tiring as hell, especially because it tackles the subjects in a raw, unapologetic manner that demands all of your faculties. It’s also a little confusing to me and after every short story, I went to Google, just to check if my interpretation of it was right. I’m usually not a fan of books that exhaust me because I have enough exhaustion in life as it is. But this one does it.

What I’m Current Watching:

Here in Australia, cable TV has some really interesting, laugh-out-loud shows that are smart and intelligent. Of course, there are some that are cringey and plain guilty pleasure. Let me tell you about them. 😉

On Mondays, we watch a reality show called Have You Been Paying Attention? In this, five Australian TV personalities come on and are quizzed about current events. The answers they give are laugh-your-guts-out funny. It’s usually about one hour long and is one of the funniest shows I’ve ever watched! On Tuesdays, there’s another called Cheap Seats with the hosts telling us the news in the funniest ways possible. Both these shows are my absolute favorites here and I’m hoping I’ll be able to watch them for a while longer. 😉

Wednesdays sees our guilty pleasure. It’s called The Real Love Boat, something like Splitsvilla back in India. In this one, men and women are aboard a ‘love boat’ in a bid to find love. The most dramatic drama happens on there and funnily enough, we’re super invested in it, albeit almost always cringing.

Two shows called Mastermind and The Chase, which are trivia competition shows. If my memory hadn’t been so bad, I would have said something like ‘I learn a lot from them.’ I mean, I do, but most times, I end up not remembering what I learned from it. It’s like my mind is a giant black hole for trivia. There’s also Australia’s Got Talent, which is pretty much the same as any other GTs out there.

On Netflix, we’re watching an amazing book to TV show adaptation. I won’t say which because I’m doing a video about it. But I must say, it’s one of the most heartwarming shows I’ve watched in a while.

So that was my little reading and watching update for today. What are you currently reading? What are you currently watching? Have you read Her Body & Other Parties? Have you watched any of the shows I’ve mentioned? Let me know in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you! ❤

I’ll see you in tomorrow’s Blogtober post.

Until next time, keep reading, keep watching, and add melodrama to your life! ❤
