In 2021, a subscriber and now friend suggested that I read the Heartstopper graphic novel series by Alice Oseman. So I read it and this way, found one of my favorite series of all time. In hindsight, 2021 was a great year for finding favorites. This one especially touched a part of my heart and filled it with warmth and goodness. When the TV adaptation came out earlier this year, I knew I had to watch it, but I couldn’t at the time. Months went by and plans of rereading the series and watching the show were razed to the ground because of our move to Sydney.

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi | Book Review
The Persepolis that I read is a sort of an omnibus that has both parts of the story. On the whole, Persepolis is the autobiographical account of the author from being an Iranian child, facing repercussions of her country’s turbulent history. While Persepolis #1, or The Story of a Childhood is the story of Satrapi as a child – her journey from Tehran to Vienna, Persepolis #2 or The Story of a Return is, you guessed right, her return to her country.
The Sworn Sword by George R. R. Martin | Book Review
The Hedge Knight was the first in the Tales of Dunk and Egg series. Being my first graphic novel and because of my interest in Game of Thrones, the novel had some serious expectations to meet. Meet it did, and how! If this is how graphic novels are (I know not all are the same), then I’m all in! The Hedge Knight was responsible for setting the bar pretty high – something that the sequel, The Sworn Sword would have to live up to.
The Hedge Knight by George R. R. Martin | Book Review
There are two reasons why I decided to buy and read The Hedge Knight.
1) I follow Game of Thrones, the TV show, religiously. [I haven’t read the books. Don’t bash me. I intend to.]
2) I’ve been wanting to start reading graphic novels for a while now. /
And since The Hedge Knight seemed like a convergence of these two, it seemed like a safe bet to start 2018 on!
