No matter how much I wanted to write, this past month hasn’t allowed me to, be it due to my physical or mental health. But I figured enough was enough and thought of coming on here to share with you some of my favorite short story collections of all time. There are so many to choose from but I decided on these ten after a long decision process. I believe that these are the best that I have read so far and I cannot wait to find more of these gems as I progress in my reading life.

Roman Stories by Jhumpa Lahiri | Book Review
Roman Stories is Jhumpa Lahiri’s latest work, a return to her roots, if you will, because this is a collection of short stories like her Pulitzer Prize winning Interpreter of Maladies. I’ve been a fan of Jhumpa Lahiri’s writing for a bit and when this book was announced, I promptly lost my mind. But before I get into what I think of her new book, I have to take a step or two back to tell you how I fell in love with her words.

Richa Gupta’s Slices of Life is a collection of short stories that span different genres and explore various facets of the human personality and psyche in a manner that makes you think and speculate and introspect about where we as humans come from, and where we are going. There are stories in there that can be classified as futuristic fiction, there are those that are domestic fiction, those that are contemporary fiction, those that talk about women empowerment, about familial relationships, friendships, romances, and daily life, and a whole lot more that you will probably be surprised to find in there.
A Ticklish Affair by Sunil Kapoor & Sudhir Kapoor | Book Review
A Ticklish Affair is a short story collection that promises to explore the underbellies of different professions and life in general while being mindful of the emotions that the people involved go through. It is a collection of 10 short stories, each one attempting to be out of this world.
Circus Folk & Village Freaks by Aparna Upadhyaya Sanyal | Book Review
The first thing you’ll notice about this book is its stunning cover. The second thing you’ll notice and one that will leave you in awe is that it is a stunning, sturdy hardcover. And open the book and flip through the pages and you’ll see the third and the fourth things that will intrigue you to no end. These are stories written in couplets! And there are illustrations!
Falling in Love Again by Ruskin Bond | Book Review
Ruskin Bond needs no introduction. His works are famous for their simplicity as well as the detailing they carry, making the author a pleasant paradox. When he describes Nature, it resonates in your imagination. For example, when he describe the water gushing through, I could actually hear it. Maybe it was because I was imagining it that I also thought of the sound. Nevertheless, that is the power that he holds.
